Introduction
In recent years, scientific research, especially the field of regional cognition, has attracted more and more attention. Regional cognition embraces and integrates various aspects of human knowledge related to specific geographic regions, such as knowledge of local politics, society, geography, economy, infrastructure, etc. It is closely related to people’s life and enterprise development. Therefore, people are paying more and more attention to the development of students’ regional cognition.
Field trips are one of the most popular ways to get students involved in learning and knowledge. Field trips can help students develop their regional cognition efficiently, which is an important content of their learning activities and development. As such, this study aims to explore the influence of field trips on the development of students’ regional cognition from the perspective of high school students.
Methodology
In this study, field trips were organized for 50 students from a high school in Wuhan City. The students were divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 25 students in each group. The experimental group participated in field trips, while the control group took part in the same subject teaching as usual. Before and after the activities, the students’ regional cognition was tested by the Chinese Adolescents’ Regional Cognitive Ability Scale (CARCL). The difference between the two groups was analyzed in order to obtain the results of the study.
Results
The results of the study showed a significant improvement in the regional cognition of the experimental group after they participated in the field trips, while no significant change was found in the performance of the control group.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that field trips can effectively promote the regional cognition of high school students. Therefore, more attention should be paid to field trips in the education of middle school students.
